Guwahati, Apr 4 (UNI) The final polling percentage for the first phase of Asom Assembly elections to 65 seats was 73 per cent, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) J P Prakash today said.

Yesterday's report had put the figure at 68 per cent.

Mr Prakash told reporters here that repolling had been ordered in five booths, one each in Patharkandi, Lahowal and Chabua and two in Karimganj.

Repolling would be held tomorrow.

Repolling was necessitated mainly due to technical failures and natural hazards, he said.

He informed that a Presiding Officer in Chaygaon had been suspended as he reported in an inebriated condition for duty.

Palashbari constituency recorded the highest voter turnout of 83.47 per cent, while Guwahati (East) saw the least voters with only 53.94 per cent exercising their franchise, Mr Prakash informed.

Altogether 65 constituencies went to the polls yesterday.

Polling in the remaining 61 would be held on April 10.
