1st phase completion of TATA-PowerGrid JV
New Delhi, Apr 4 (UNI) Powerlinks Transmission Limited, a joint venture of Tata Power and Power Grid Corporation today announced the completion of the Bareilly-Mandola portion of the Tata transmission project, three months ahead of schedule.
The project, involving the construction of 1200 km of 400 kv transmission lines from the Tata hydro project (Bhutan) to the Delhi region, was conceptualised to evacuate 1020 MW of power from Bhutan and transmit it to the power deficit states in North India.
With the completion of Bareilly-Mandola line, a parallel 400 kv corridor would be available from Unnao/Kanpur/Lucknow area to Delhi, resulting in the strengthening of East-North corridor.
The line would carry about 400 MW of power, thus reducing the load on other lines in the corridor.
''This ambitious project will form an important element of our National Grid,'' PowerGrid CMD R P Singh said.
According to Tata Power Director Adi Engineer, the joint venture marks a successful trend and offers hope for more such joint initiatives for the power sector in the future.
