YSR asks Centre to frame semiconductor policy
Bangalore, Apr 3 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajashekhara Reddy today demanded that the Union Government come out with a clear cut semiconductor policy immediately to boost the sunrise industry in the country.
Speaking at a meeting of IT and Semiconductor industrialists here, organised by APInvest, a nodal agency set up by the Andhra Pradesh Government to promote investments in the State, he said the Centre had promised to come out with a national semiconductor policy, taking into consideration the rich potential of the sector, and the State Government was eagerly awaiting it.
Dr Reddy said the proposed Fab City to come up near Hyderabad would offer all kinds of facilities that the semiconductor industry required. The State offered lowest power tariff rate for industries set up under the Fab city, which attracted foreign investment and offered huge job opportunities.
