WTO regulations: Agri Ministers to meet in Delhi

Bidar, Apr 3: Karnataka Agriculture Minister Bandeppa Kashempur today said his counterparts from all States will meet in New Delhi on April seven to discuss the impact of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) regulations on the farm sector.

Talking to mediapersons here, he said ''we will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of free trade. Protecting the interests of farmers will be our priority.'' Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar would participate in the meet.

The Minister said the Centre would organise a seminar on suicides by farmers in Hyderabad on April ten. Eminent food scientist M S Swaminathan, development economists and members of advocacy groups would take part in it.
