TTD celebrates car festival at Kodandarama Temple
Tirupati, Apr 3 (UNI) Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) celebrated car festival on the penultimate day of the nine-day Brahmotsavam on the occasion of Ramanavami at the Rama Temple here.
The 'Rathotsavam' (pulling of the temple chariot) was held with religious fervour at the temple town this morning.
The idol of the lord, along with Sita and Lakshmana, was taken around the four mada streets of the temple with hundreds of devotees pulling the chariot amid chanting of 'Sree Rama' and 'Govinda.' The pulling of the chariot, which began at 0650 hrs, ended at 0830 hrs. Bhajans on Lord Rama were sung.
TTD joint executive officer Balaramaiah, special officer A V Dharma Reddy, among others, attended the festival.
In the evening, the idol of Lord Kodandarama would be taken out on procession on 'Aswavahanam'.
Police made elaborate arrangemtns for the festival, which would end tomorrow with 'chakarasnam' in the Pushkarani (temple tank).
