Traders go on token strike against octroi levy

Mumbai, Apr 3 (UNI) About 10,000 traders, brokers and industrialists belonging to the Maharashtra Rajya Jakat Nirmulan Samiti today went on a hunger strike at Azad Maidan to protest against the levy of octroi in the state.

Representatives of 1,235 associations of traders and retailers members of tempo and truck owners' associations participated in the strike.

People from Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Bhiwandi, Pune, Nashik, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Solapur, Nanded and other regions attended the strike.
