TPT sails on high tide

Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, Apr 3 (UNI) The Tuticorin Port Trust (TPT) has handled an all time record cargo traffic of 171.39 lakh tonne for 2005-06 against 158.11 lakh tonne in 2004-05 recording an increase of 8.4 per cent.

TPT Chairman M K Raghupathy informed presspersons here today that while imports accounted for 133.75 lakh tonne, exports stood at 37.75 lakh tonne.

The port handled 1576 ships for 2005-06 against 1,479 in 2004-05, he added.
