SUCI to contest in Kerala, West Bengal against Left Front

Kochi, Apr 3 (UNI) The Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI) today announced that it will contest from 26 seats in the three-phased Kerala assembly elections starting later this month.

In a statement here, SUCI Central Committee member Krishna Chakraborthy said that while the UDF, LDF and the BJP were vying to prove who could raise the slogan of ''development'' the loudest, the real issues confronting the people were being neglected.

Blasting the Left parties, he said while in West Bengal, Chief Minister Budddhadeb Bhattacharya was advocating liberalisation, privatisation and globalisation, in Kerala also, Mr Pinarayi Vijayan had taken out the 'Kerala March', raising the same slogan of development. The march was flagged off by none other than Leader of the Opposition V S Achuthanandan.

Besides Kerala, SUCI will also contest from 125 seats in West Bengal, 20 in Assam and four in Tamil Nadu, he added.
