Seriouisly ill Ghani Khan hospitalised in Kolkata

Kolkata, Apr 03 (UNI) Veteran Congress leader A B A Ghani Khan Chowdhury who fell ill at his Malda residence early today, was brought here this afternoon and admitted to a private nursing home.

Mr Khan Chowdhury was first rushed to a nursing home in Malda town at around 03-00 hours this morning immediately after the octogenarian leader complained of acute pain in lower abdomen and other complications.

But as his condition did not improve,the former Railway Minister and Lok Sabha MP from Malda was brought to the city in a defence helicopter at around 17-30 hours.

Soon after being brought here Mr Khan Chowdhury was rushed to a private nursing home in a motorcade. Among others Pradesh Congress vice-president Pradip Bhattacharya and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee were present at the helipad to receive the ailing leader.

Earlier, in Malda a seven-member medical board, under the chairmanship of Dr Pradip Chakraborty, was constituted to monitor the condition of the veteran leader and on their recommendation Mr Khan Chowdhury was brought to the city, party sources said.
