Sensex opens strong and crosses 11,400 mark
Mumbai, Apr 3 (UNI) The benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) opened with a gain of 63 points at 11,342.96 points as compared to the last close of 11,279.96.
Soon after opening, the index crossed 11,400 mark first time ever. The 30 shares Sensitive Index (Sensex) was trading with a gain of 147 points at 11,427 points at 1041 hrs.
Index heavy weight Reliance Industries was up by Rs 28.75 or 3.61 per cent to Rs 825, a major mover of the Sensex.
The index touched an all time high of 11,435 points which on the back of all round gains. BSE Oil&Gas, Metal, Auto and InfoTech companies were leading the bull run this morning.
The BSE smallcap index was up by 2.63 per cent and BSE midcap index was up by 1.77 per cent showing widespread gains.
The top Sensex gainers were Reliance, Cipla, Infosys, Maruti, Bajaj, Ranbaxy, BHEL, Hindalco, NTPC, Tata Motors.
The two losers on the Sensex were HDFC Bank and ONGC.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) S&P CNX Nifty index opened higher at 3,403.15 as compared to the last close at 3,402.55. Nifty was trading at 3,442.70 with a gain of 40 points at 1053 hrs.
