SC refuses early hearing in RJD MP Pappu Yadav case

New Delhi, Apr 3 (UNI) The Supreme Court today refused to fix for early hearing the application filed by RJD MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav seeking permission to attend the ongoing session of Parliament.

A bench comprising Mr Justice S B Sinha and Mr Justice P K Bala Subramanyan said that there was no urgency in the matter as the application filed in July 2005 has already become infructous.

Counsel for the applicant C D Singh, however, pleaded that his client has to attend the Parliament session which is held from time to time.

Pappu Yadav is in Tihar jail after he was tranfered to Delhi from Bihar by the Supreme Court after he was found canvassing in the election in Bihar despite officialy being in jail.

The RJD MP has a criminal background and is facing a number of cases which are being investigated by the state police as well the CBI.
