Rs. 6.5 crore insurance cover for Kochi India vs England ODI

Kochi, Apr 3 (UNI) New India Assurance Co. Ltd. today insured the 4th one-day international between India and England, to be played here on April six, for Rs 6.5 crore.

Documents regarding this were handed over to Kochi Mayor Mercy Williams by Chief Regional Manager, Kerala, New India Assurance Co., R Parthasarthy at a function here.

Prof Williams in turn handed over the insurance certificate to Mr Antony Issac, Chairman of the Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA), which owns the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium, the venue for the 4th ODI.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Parthasarthy said the insurance policy covers the ODI against various risks such as fire, earthquakes and terrorism for Rs 4.5 crore.

There is also a public liability insurance for Rs one crore, with per person limit of Rs one lakh, and a special contingency insurance for Rs one crore to cover the entire match in case of cancellation without a single ball being bowled due to the insured risks.

DIG Padmakumar, detailing the security arrangements, said 2,400 police personnel will be deployed for the match, including ''special commandos'' inside the ground, to prevent fans from running out into the ground.

He also said video cameras, glass bottles, tiffin boxes and cigarettes would not be permitted inside the venue.

A 24-hour police control room will be oprational at the venue besides first aid medical teams.

The two teams will arrive here tomorrow morning from Goa.
