Probe ordered against Ghaziabad SSP over eve teasing

Lucknow, Apr 3 (UNI) Taking a serious note on allegations of 'harassing' a junior officer's wife, the Uttar Pradesh government today ordered a probe against SSP (Ghaziabad).

Cricle Officer Uday Shanker Singh posted at Noida had lodged a written complaint against SSP (Ghaziabad) Jai Narain Singh for misbehaving with his wife.

Taking note of the complaint, the state government has asked DIG (Meerut Range) R K Vishwakarma to probe the matter, Secretary (Home) Jagannath Singh said here today.

Uday Shanker had alleged that the SSP reached his residence on Holi and passed lewd remarks at his wife. He later called up the CO's wife and tried to misbehave with her.

''If the SSP is found guilty for the allegations, strict action would be taken against him as per law,'' Mr Singh informed.

Uday Shanker had lodged his complaint with DM (Ghaziabad) against Jai Narain Singh, a 1992 batch IPS officer.

Officers of Provincial Police Service and Provincial Civil Service had expressed anguish over the incident after it came to light.
