Privatisation of Hutti gold mines ruled out

Bangalore, Apr 3 (UNI) Karnataka Higher Secondary Education Minister D H Shankaramurthy today ruled out privatisation of the profit-making public sector unit Hutti Gold Mines Company.

Replying to a calling-attention motion by Mr Shashil Namoshi (BJP) in the Legislative Council, the Floor Leader, speaking on behalf of the Chief Minister, said the State Government was committed to protect the interests of the company.

Mr Shankaramurthy said the Government had not leased out the mines to any private company. The Hutti Gold Fieds produced over three tonnes of gold a month with an annual profit of Rs 50 crore.
