Palani Murugan temple consecration: 'Pushpamari' by chopper
Palani, Tamil Nadu, Apr 03 (UNI) Lakhs of devotees today witnessed the consecration of the famous Bala Dhandayuthapani temple here, the third of the six legendary abodes of Lord Muruga.
The golden 'vimana', 'Raja Gopuram' and other towers were consecrated with water brought from holy rivers and tanks across the country. The ritual began in the morning after completing 'poojas' and a chopper showered flowers ('pushpamari') on temple premises.
Fervent shouts of 'Arohara, Arohara' rent the air and the pilgrim town was flooded with devotees. It was a sea of humanity as the shrine has pride of place in the cultural history of Tamil Nadu since the Sangam period. Festivities of various types were held.
Renovation and related work was completed at a cost of Rs five crore, collected through donations.
The temple is located on a hillock in Dindigul District.
