No violation of election code by PM : Cong

New Delhi, Apr 3(UNI) The Congress today termed as ridiculous the charge that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had promised a package of Rs 602 crore for the people of Asom during his election speech in the State.

"It is height of irresponsibility on part of the BJP to level such allegations, "Congress Spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said referring to the BJP's complaint to the Election Commission about the alleged violation of election code by the Prime Minister.

Challenging the BJP to produce the tape which show Prime Minister promising a package of Rs 600 crores to the people of Asom on the eve of the assembly elections.

It is a ridiculous allegation intended to mislead the people, Mr Singhvi told reporters, adding the BJP owes an apology to the country for making the baseless allegation.
