Narcotic syndicate busted, 5 arrested with 400 gm smack

Lucknow, Apr 3 (UNI) Police today claimed to have busted a narcotic syndicate here with the arrest of five people including two women possessing 400 gm smack estimated at Rs 40 lakhs in international market.

Acting on a tip-off that some women were selling the psychotropic substance in Hasanganj area around midnight, cops raided the spot and arrested five people. They were identified as Rizwan, Rakesh, Ashfaq, Gudia and Munni, police today said.

Apart from smack, sleuths also recovered Rs 17,000 in cash from the accused.

The accused -- hailing from Barabanki district -- used to sell the substance in Lucknow and nearby districts.

In another incident, four criminals identified as Sanjeev, Raj Jeevan, Vinod and Raju were arrested in Quiserbagh area here.

Two pistols and a crude bomb were recovered from them.
