MP Cong accuses govt of model code violation
Bhopal, Apr 3 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Jamuna Devi today alleged that the state government violated the model code of conduct by announcing a subsidy to farmers in the wake of a power tariff hike.
''Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's announcement is impudent. The Congress will complain about it to the Election Commission. The regime hoodwinked peasants by the untrue announcement that resulted from apprehension following cultivators' indignation and the effect on the Budhni bypoll,'' she said in a statement.
Alleging that the BJP government actually reduced ryot subsidy by about Rs 600 crore over the past year, Ms Devi added that if the regime was really a well-wisher of the farmers it would repeal the cut.
