Maruti March vehicle sales up 16 pc

New Delhi, Apr 3 (UNI) India's biggest car maker, Maruti Udyog Ltd, today reported a 16 per cent rise in March 2006 sales to 63,196 units as against 54,613 units a year earlier.

MUL sold 61,141 units in the domestic market, up 21 per cent from 50,693 units a year earlier.

However, exports fell 48 per cent to 2,055 units from 3,920 units a year earlier.

The company closed the financial year 2005-06 with a sales figure of 561,822 vehicles. Domestic sales accounted for 522,664 units.
