Major fire in Jhuggi cluster in East Delhi

New Delhi, Apr 3 (UNI) A major fire broke out in a Jhuggi Jhopdi cluster along the banks of the Yamuna near ITO tonight.

Fire Brigade sources said the fire broke out in the JJ clusters near ITO at 2205 hrs.

More than 20 fire fighting vehicles were rushed to the site of the fire which engulfed several hundred jhuggis in its ambit, and were engaged in putting out the fire, till last reports came in.

The people residing in the JJ clusters had been asked to evacuate their homes, they said.

The exact cause of the fire however, was not immediately known.
