Tamil Nadu: Krishnasamy to contest in assembly polls
Chennai, Apr 3: Puthiya Tamizhagam (PT) President and Dalit leader K Krishnasamy today announced that he would seek election from Ottapidaram (reserved), while fielding a candidate against AIADMK General Secretary and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa at Andipatti in the May eight polls to the Tamil Nadu Assembly.
Releasing the second list of 60 candidates here, Dr Krishnasamy said he would contest from Ottapidaram (reserved) constituency, from where he was elected in the 1996 Assembly polls by a margin of 1148 votes.
He said the party had decided to field Balasundara Doss in Andipatti against Ms Jayalalithaa.
The PT had released the first list of 27 candidates on March 27 and would release the candidates for the remaining constituencies in the next couple of days, he added.
