Jockeys Gallagher, Koch fined
Bangalore, Apr 3 (UNI) The Stipendiary Stewards of the Bangalore Turf Club (BTC) have fined jockeys M A Gallagher and R Koch Rs 3,000 each in the Chamarajanagar Plate and Makalidurga Plate respectively of the Bangalore winter meeting races on March 25.
While Gallagher riding 'Wafadar' was taken to task for ''coming in'' and causing severe interference to 'Heroines Beauty', Koch, the rider of 'Wizzy Noise', was fined for not making sufficient effort on his mount, a BTC release here said today.
Jockey K P G Appu, the rider of 'Initiation' in the N E Raymond Memorial Plate on the same day, was fined Rs 1,000 for excessive use of whip on his mount, the release added.
The release said that during Udupi Plate on March 24, Jockey S Ramesh, the rider of 'Cellisima', and Gallagher riding 'Abraxas' were fined Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively for inconveniencing 'Brave Bheem'. Jockey Vivek, the rider of 'Chilly Wind', was fined Rs 1,000 for failing to observe the pre-race parade formalities in front of the stands.
The Stewards, after deliberations, overruled an objection filed by Jockey A Velu, the rider of 'Splendid Smith', against Jockey J H Christopher, the rider of 'Stilton', for squeezing him towards the rails and costing him the race, the release said.
