Illicit spirit worth Rs 7 lakh seized, 3 arrested

Mysore, Apr 3 (UNI) The Excise Department Officials here have seized 7,000 litres of illicit spirit, worth Rs seven lakh, and arrested three persons in this connection.

In a release here today, Excise Supreintendent Honnappa said on a tip off, the officials waylaid a lorry last night and effected the seizure.

The spirit cans hidden under husk in the lorry were being illegally transported to the city from Shimoga.

The arrested were lorry driver Shivu and cleaners Manju and Basavaraju. The vehicle was also seized.
