High level committee to check kidnapping

Patna, Apr 3 (UNI) Patna High Court today constituted a seven-member high level committee to recommend measures to state government for checking kidnappings in the state.

Hearing the public interest petition on kidnapping, a division bench of the court comprising Chief Justice Dr J N Bhatt and Justice S N Hussain asked the state government to follow the suggestions of the committee to check the rising menace in Bihar.

The bench directed the state government to ensure safe release of the kidnapped people and arrest the crminals invoved.

During the hearing, court was informed that only 21 children were rescued while 79 children were kidnapped in all.

The first meeting of the newly constituted committee would be held in the second week of this month.

The state government had been directed to file a report on the follow-up actions in this connection in the court on May first.
