HC notice to UP govt. on illegal detention in Varanasi blasts

Allahabad, Apr 3 (UNI) The Allahabad High Court today issued notice to Uttar Pradesh government over the alleged illegal detention of a Muslim of Phoolpur area of Allahabad in connection with the March seven twin blasts in Varanasi.

The Division Bench comprising Justices M C Jain and K K Mishra issued the notice while hearing a haebes corpus petition filed by Umera Khatoon, the wife of Walliullah who was detained recently by the Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh Police in connection with the twin blasts.

The notice was issued to the state government through UP Home Secretary, STF, Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) and SSP Allahabad.

The division bench also posted the case for further hearing on April 12, 2006.
