HC contempt notice against Punjab IAS officers
Chandigarh, Apr 3 (UNI) Justice M M Kumar of Punjab and Haryana High Court today issued notice for July 22 to the Punjab's Local Government financial commissioner B R Bajaj and Amritsar Municipal Commissioner K S Kang to show cause as to why contempt of court proceedings be not initiated against them for not complying court orders.
This was done on a petition filed by Saphai Karamchari Union of INTUC, Municipal Corporation, Amritsar, who alleged that the Corporation had not passed a fresh speaking order about the settlement with the employees unions on the issue of entitlement of bonus to the employees. The Corporation had through a resolution on September 11,1985 nullified a settlement with the employees union including the petitioner union, on the issue of payment of bonus to the employees.
The High Court had, however, vide its order of September 15, 2004, quashed the said resolution and directed the municipal corporation, Amritsar, to pass fresh speaking order within a period of six months, after dealing with the objections raised by the employees and their unions.
