HC adjourns plea against EC direction on Smart City

Kochi, Apr 3 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today adjourned till April 5 a PIL seeking to declare as illegal a direction issued by Election Commission (EC) to the state government not to execute the final agreement for setting up Smart City project here.

A division Bench comprising Chief Justice V K Bali and Mr Justice J B Koshy adjourned the matter for the counsel to seek instructions from the EC and the state government on their stand.

In the writ petition filed by Intelligent Decision Systems India, it was submitted that the model code of conduct was not applicable to Smart City. The process of establishment of the project was started in 2004, it said.

The MoU was signed in September 2005 and the decision to sign the draft final agreement was taken on the forenoon of March 1, 2006.
