Election Commission issues directions to voters

Jammu, Apr 3 (UNI) The Election Commission has asked voters in Rafiabad, Sangrama, Pattan and Bhaderwah Assembly Constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir where beelection will be held on April 24 to this year produce their Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) as identification for voting at the by-election.

The Election Commission also directed that electors who have not yet obtained EPICs will also have to establish their identity to the satisfaction of presiding or Polling officer authorized by Presiding Officer in his behalf, for voting in the byelections.

The Commission has prescribed documents for those who do not possess EPICs, establishing identity which are Passports, Driving Licences, Income Tax (PAN) Cards, Service Identity Cards issued to its employees by State/Central Government, Public Sector Undertakings, Local Bodies and other private Industrial Houses, Bank/Kissan/Post Office Pass Books (Accounts opened on or before February 28, 2006).
