Eight dacoits held in UP

Lucknow, Apr 3 (UNI) As many as eight dacoits have been arrested from two separate places in Uttar Pradesh during the last 24 hours.

Police said here today that five dacoits were arrested from the Nizamabad village of Siddharthnagar district last night. The police also seized arms and valuables looted by them in the recent past.

Besides, narcotic substance estimated to be worth Rs two lakh was also seized from the arrested, police added.

Three dacoits were also arrested last night under Panwadi area of Mahoba district following an encounter.

The arrested outlaws were identified as Dharmajit, Lakhan and Kallu.

The encounter took place in the jungles of Nagara ghat after the cops received a tip-off about the presence of bandits in the area.

Several firearms and cartridges were recovered from the spot, police said.
