EC to haul up TDP leaders for holding press conference
New Delhi, Apr 3 (UNI) The Election Commission today directed the chief electoral officer of Asom to file cases against TDP leaders B.
Goswami, A. Bhattacharjee and Ramamohan Rao for holding press conference yesterday in Guwahati.
It said a case must be filed before a competent authority under section 126 clause 1-A of the Peoples Representation Act 1951 which prohibits convening, holding, attending, joining or addressing any public meeting or procession in connection with elections during a period of 48 hours ending with hour fixed for conclusion of poll.
The EC said holding a press conference amounts to hold a public meeting under clause 2 of the above act.
