EC gathers 113 cases of office-of-profit petitions

New Delhi, Apr 3 (UNI) The Election Commission has till today, received 113 references of MPs and MLAs for holding office of profit from the President and the governors of various states.

Of these, 34 concern MPs while the rest concern MLAs of different states.

Of the 79 MLAs, one belongs to Uttar Pradesh, 12 to Himachal Pradesh, two to Nagaland, 11 to Tripura, 19 to Jharkhand, 13 to Chattisgarh, 14 to Uttaranchal and three to Rajasthan.

These petitions are at various stages of EC's consideration, sources said.
