CMPDI excels in 2005-06

Ranchi, Apr 3 (UNI) Central Mine Planning and Design Institute Limited(CMPDI) has achieved operational, exploration, planning, design and environment study related targets during 2005-06.

CMPDI Chairman-cum-Managing Director S Choudhury today said it has carried out 1,92,296 metres of drilling against the target of 1,92,000 metres during 2005-06, registering a growth of 5.3 per cent in drilling over the last year.

About 14 geological reports had been prepared, providing additional coal reserves of about 2.5 billion tonnes for various projects. This also includes drilling in non-CIL block identified for captive mining.

More than 7000 metres of slim hole exploratory drilling has been carried out by CMPDI in the CIL-ONGC CBM block in Jharia coalfield, he said.

The report also said that a total 264 CIL reports had been prepared which include 30 project reports, 62 environmental management plans and 12 operational plans.

Besides the CIL reports, CMPDI completed consultancy jobs worth Rs 5.5 crores related to mine planning, environment management, Coal Bed Methane, master planning and geophysical surveys for 16 organisations.

In the international arena, proposals for conducting detailed geologiclal surveys and preparation of bankable feasibility report for two new coal mines in Sinamatella coalfield and western part of Zimbabwe Power Company was submitted, he added.
