AMC ex-mayor, dy mayor in trouble over dereservation resolution
Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Apr 3 (UNI) The city police today registered two separate offences against former Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) mayor Vimal Rajput and Deputy Mayor Prakash Nikalje, six ex-corporators and others for their involvement in passing a resolution lifting the reservations on two plots of land, one of which had been earmarked for civic garden.
Talking to reporters this evening, Assistant Commissioner of Police Sudhir Dabhade said two separate offences have been registered following a complaint to this effect lodged by the AMC earlier in the day.
The AMC lodged a complaint with the City-Chowk Police Station following a recent directive from the State Government in respect of two controversial resolutions dated January 19, 2003, adopted by the AMC that had lifted reservations on the two plots -- Dhobighat and Kileark plots.
The six ex-corporators against whom offences have been registered include Sanjay Shirsath (Shiv Sena), who is also a sitting corporator, Prof Sunil Magre, Ratankumar Pandagle, Anand Tandulwadikar, Abdul Rashid Abdul Sattar, and Radhakrishna Gaikwad.
State Urban Development Deputy Secretary M D Adivarekar, in two separate letters to the AMC Comissioner recently, had derided the civic body's move to dereserve these two plots and directed him to register offences against those responsible for the de-reservation.
