All India Milli Council asks Advani to rethink on 'Yatra'

New Delhi, Apr 3 (UNI) The All India Milli Council today appealed to senior BJP leader L K Advani to desist from embarking on another 'yatra' that can further polarise people and hurt the cause of communal peace.

In a letter to the former BJP President, Council General Secretary M Manzoor Alam wondered how a Yatra that is ''creating a lot of apprehensions among countrymen and posing a threat to communal harmony can be termed as Rashtriya Suraksha Yatra''.

Reminding Mr Advani of the responsible Constitutional positions he has held in the past as well as the Leader of the Opposition slot he currently occupies, he asked him not to behave like the member of any ''particular Parivaar'', but as a leader of all communities.

He also disagreed with the selection of Kasargod in Kerala as starting point of the Yatra on April 6, pointing out that the grave of Malik Bin Dinar lies there. Dinar, who arrived in India in the 7th century, is respected by all in the locality and is a symbol of communal harmony, he said.
