AIADMK denies corruption free cycle scheme
Chennai, Apr 3 (UNI) The ruling All India Anna DMK (AIADMK) today denied DMK President M Karunanidhi's corruption charge in the free bicycle distribution scheme to school students.
Refuting the charge, AIADMK Election Committee Secretary O Panneerselvam said in a statement here there was absolutely no truth in the DMK leader's charge and people would not take it seriously.
He said the free bicycle distribution scheme, was very popular in the state and Mr Karunanidhi could not digest the popularity gained by party leader Ms Jayalalithaa for implementing the innovative scheme.
Stating that the DMK leader had pointed out a minor discrepancy in the tender process, Mr Panneerselvam said this fault was rectified in 2004-05. But Mr Karunanidhi was still harping on the baseless charge.
The DMK leader was trying to gain cheap publicity to get mileage in the May eight Assembly poll, but the people would teach him a fitting lesson, he said.
