811 samples test negative for bird flu
Bhopal, Apr 3 (UNI) As many as 811 samples, recently sent to the city-based High-Security Animal Disease Laboratory from districts adjoining Maharashtra, have tested negative for avian influenza.
''These include most samples sent until March 30. Excepting Ichhapur village in Burhanpur district, adjoining Maharashtra's Jalgaon, no sample tested positive from anywhere in Madhya Pradesh,'' Commissioner (Veterinary Services) Rajesh Rajora said today.
The official said that 8,540 poultry were culled and safely buried in 23 villages around Ichhapur where bird flu was detected on March 28.
Besides, 2,916 poultry were buried in four villages of Badwani district. Disinfectants were sprayed on houses.
