Wanted criminal freed from police custody

Hardoi, Apr 2 (UNI) Armed assailants freed a wanted criminal from police custody in this district of Uttar Pradesh this evening.

Police said here that Dolan Singh, carrying a reward of Rs 2,500 on his head, who was arrested yesterday, was being taken to a court by police constables Lallan and Uday Chand.

When the trio reached the Sursa crossing, criminals who waylaid them, attacked the two constables and managed to escape with Dolan Singh.

Further investigations were on.
