UP directs officials to protect poultry industry from Bird Flu

Lucknow, Apr 2 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government has issued necessary directions to protect the growing poultry industry from bird flu scare.

State Agriculture Production Commissioner Navin Chandra Bajpayee said here today that concerned officials have been asked to take the essential steps to protect the poultry industry in UP from the bird flu scare.

The poultry industry in the state, housing 17 lakh chickens and producing 758.33 million eggs daily, needed to be protected from the scare, he added.

Mr Bajpayee also directed officials to send to the Centre, reports of daily meetings of the core group on bird flu.
