Traders to go on hunger strike on April three

Mumbai, Apr 2 (UNI) Maharashtra Rajya Jakat Nirmulan Samiti has called for a hunger strike on April three protesting against the levy of Octroi.

In a meeting held on April one, at Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture's (MCCIA) Office, it was decided that all 1,235 associations of traders and retailers in the State would be asked to send their representatives for the proposed hunger Strike.

''We are expecting five members per association but will limit the number of participants to around 100 only due to shortage of space,'' MP and President of MCCIA Eaknath Thakur said.

Tempo and truck associations will be taking part in the hunger strike, he added.

Associations from Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Bhiwandi, Pune, Nasik, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Solapur, Nanded and others also attended the meeting.
