Traders shot at in North, Central Delhi

New Delhi, Apr 2 (UNI) Two traders were shot at by unidentified assailants in two separate incidents in the capital last night.

In the first incident, Nitin Sharma, a 27 year-old trader having an eletronics goods shop at the Lajpat Rai market, was shot at by unidientified assailants driving in a Maruti car, in the Civil Lines area of North Delhi at 2130 hours.

Mr Sharma, a resident of North Delhi's Kamla Nagar, was travelling back home after closing his shop when two persons driving a Maruti car, coming from the opposite side, shot two bullets at him from the front, leaving him seriously injured, police said.

One of the bullets hit Mr Sharma in the spinal cord. He was admitted to a nearby hospital in a serious condition, the police said.

The assilands fled from the spot leaving their Maruti car behind.

In another incident, Devender Kumar Jain, a bidi shop owner in Khari Bawli was shot at by two youths in the Bara Hindu Rao at 2145 Hours last night.

Mr Jain, a resident of Fayaz Ganj in Bara Hindu Rao, was returning to his home in a rickshaw when two boys stopped the rickshaw and tried to snatch his bag, which contained some valuables. When he esisted, the two boys shot two bullets at him, one of which hit his shoulder, police said.

The trader was admitted to Apollo Hospital from where he was later discharged, they said.

The two boys are, however, missing.
