Rane reiterates commitment to boost IT sector and tourism in Goa

Panaji, Apr 2 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane reiterated his Government's commitment for boosting Information Technology and tourism industry without neglecting social service sector in the state.

Mr Rane had also called for industries partnership for promoting the environment-friendly sector that could generate wealth besides enhancing employment potential for the youth.

Addressing the annual day session of the Goa council of the confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here last evening, the Chief Minister said construction of a 4,000 capacity convention centre with four exhibition halls, cruise terminal, oceanarium and hotels for middle class tourists would go a long way for promoting tourism in the state.

He had also enumerated the core projects such as the IT Habitat at Dona Paula for which corner stone was laid recently by UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, besides the proposed IT park at Soccoro, IT centre at Mandrem and an IT training facility there.

He also sought the cooperation and partnership of the industries and institutions like the CII for all round development of the state through partnerships in projects.

Speaking on the occasion, state chief secretary J P Singh urged the industry to contribute its mite for developing quality infrastructure in Goa through private-public partnership in a big way.
