'Kumudam' Founder-Publisher dead
Chennai, Apr 2 (UNI) P V Parthasarathy, co-founder and publisher of popular Tamil Weekly magazine ''Kumudam'' died here this morning after a brief illness.
He was 83.
He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
He had been suffering from age-related complications. He died at around 0330 hrs at his residence this morning, family and magazine sources told UNI.
Parthasarathy along with Mr S A Palaniappan founded the magazine in 1947. His son P Varadharajan is the Managing Director of 'Kumudam.' The funeral would take place on April four.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa condoled the death of Mr Parthasarathy who she described as an achiever in the print media.
In a statement here, she said Mr Parthasarathy's efforts saw the magazine gain the numero uno status in the state.
His death is an irreparable loss not only to the 'Kumudam' but also to the entire media fraternity, she added.
