'Kalaignar' to campaign in 'hi-tech' van from next week

Chennai, Apr 2 (UNI) DMK supremo M Karunanidhi is getting ready to campaign in a 'hi-tech' van from next week, according to party sources.

The coming polls are all the more prestigious for the indefatigable 'Kalignar', also the proverbial 'Chanakya' of Tamil Nadu politics, who is eager to keep up his own record of not losing elections.

Even as his archrival AIADMK supremo and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa is already on the roads, Mr Karunanidhi's 'hi-tech' van, a tempo traveller obtained from Mumbai, is being fitted with necessary facilities, to make the arduous electioneering tour comfortable for him.

The van is fitted with a moving chair in which he can recline and other normal fittings like microphones.

According to a senior party functionary T K S Elangovan, the Kalaignar's campaign route will be finalised over the next three days.

''He will be touring throughout Tamil Nadu on April 7 or 8, he said, adding the exact dates of campaigning will be announced after the meeting of the DPA alliance party leaders meeting here on April 5.
