Indian's body recovered in Bahrain

Dubai, Apr 2 (UNI) The body of an Indian was recovered today during search operations and efforts are on to trace one more person believed to have been on board the unlicensed cruiser that capsized on Thursday killing 21 Indians.

According to officials, 58 people, all foreigners were killed when the twin-decked boat carrying 126 people flipped over its side.

An Indian, Chacko Philipose, 54, who could barely swim was found clinging on to the overturned boat for at least thirty minutes before being rescued by the coast guard, news report said.

He was given hospital treatment before discharging but was readmitted after feeling pain in his chest.

The Indian Embassy is working with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to clear the paperwork to enable relatives to take the bodies of the victims to their home land.

Of the 53 Indians on board, 21 perished, 30 survived and two are unaccounted for.

The body of 25-year-old Indian waiter Abdul Latif Abdul Wahab was the first to be taken today to his hometown in Trivandrum.
