India to host women's World Cup in 2009

Margao, Apr 2 (UNI) The next edition of the women's cricket World Cup in 2009 would be held in India, ICC President Ehsaan Mani announced here today.

Speaking to reporters, Mani said the development of the game overall, including women's cricket, is a very important agenda with the ICC and they are happy at the lead the Indian women's association is taking in spreading women's cricket far and wide.

India has offered to host the 2009 Women's World Cup and we are glad to allocate it to them as this would help in promoting women's cricket in the sub-contionent, he added.
