IIMA grads spurn cushy jobs to create jobs
Ahmedabad, Apr 2: Sharad Babu and Gaurav Dagaonkar, two out of the 250 MBA students of Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIMA), have refused offers of cushy jobs and have set out to do something different.
Twenty-seven-year-old Babu, with an impecunious background, always wished to be an entrepreneur, and help the poor and needy by employing them. He is on the track, spurning his cushy corporate job offer to fulfill his childhood resolve.
Babu, who hails from Manipakam village near Chennai in Tamil Nadu, has floated a company christened Foodking Catering Services Limited in a posh locality in Ahmedabad.
For Dagaonkar, music was his first love. Indian film music, Indi-Pop, Western classical music and hard rock fascinates the 25-year-old. While he was studying at Thodomal Shahani Engineering College in Mumbai, he composed and sung songs at various forums. He had even designed a music studio in his room at the IIMA dormitory.
The icing on the cake came when, IIMA Board of Governors Chairman N R Narayana Murthy, at the convocation, released Dagaonkar,s debut music album and complimented Babu for his entrepreneurial venture in catering business.
