IIFT to hold convocation on April 5
New Delhi, Apr 2 (UNI) The 40th Convocation of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) is scheduled to be held on April 5, 2006 and Union Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath would be the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Mr S N Menon, Chairman IIFT and Secretary, Department of Commerce will preside over the function and Mr Prabir Sengupta, Director, IIFT will deliver the welcome address.
To address the growing demand for international business education, IIFT is setting up another Centre at Kolkata with the active support of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The Centre has already announced commencement of MBA(IB) programme from this academic year.
Another fresh initiative of the institute is the setting up of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Centre.
As the SME sector continues to play a crucial role in globalizing economy towards national development, the need for providing training and developmental activities specific to SMEs assumes importance.
The Centre promises to provide continuous support by carrying out activities like training programmes, provision of business intelligence services through a databank and act as a catalyst for interface with other concerned institutions. UNI BBS PK BST1736
