Five Naxals killed in encounter in AP

Khammam, Andhra Pradesh Apr 2 (UNI) Five Naxals belonging to the CPI(Maoist) party were killed in an encounter near Mukkunuru village in Khammam district today.

Police said a team on duty in the Venkatapuram area had encountered the Naxals and asked them to surrender. The Naxals refused and opened fire and in the exchange of fire the five men were killed, police added.

Two 303 rifles and three DBBL were recovered from the spot.

Police suspect that the deceased belonged to the Local Guerilla Squad.
