Fate of Justice Rajkhowa Commission uncertain

Imphal, Apr 2 (UNI) The Justice Rajkhowa Commission, formed to inquire into the alleged rape of 21 women at Churachandpur and molestation of M Naobi by Thoubal police, is yet to yield any result.

The Manipur government had ordered to complete the inquiry within two months.

The Commission had urged all the parties to file a statement of affidavit by April 3.

A large number of Women's organisations had been staging 'sit in protest' demanding proper action.

The HMAR women's organisation had urged the state government to shift the venue of interrogation of the rape victims from Imphal to Churachandpur.

The Working Committee of Apunba Lup (WCAL) had expressed distrust in such inquiries.

''A number of Judicial Magisterial inquiries had been ordered but none of these were useful, the WCAL members pointed out.
