DMK MLA joins AIADMK
Chennai, Apr 2 (UNI) DMK MLA A Asokan has joined the ruling AIADMK after he was denied a party ticket to contest the May 8 assembly polls in Tamil Nadu, an AIADMK release said here today.
Mr Asokan quit the party and joined the AIADMK in the presence of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, who was on a campaign trail in Cuddalore.
Welcoming him into the party fold, Ms Jayalalithaa made Mr Asokan a primary member of the party.
Mr Asokan, representing Tiruvarur in the State Assembly, was considered close to DMK Deputy General Secretary and youth wing leader M K Stalin.
